When I consider every thing that grows
Is modified genetically today,
I wouldnst ere have giveth thee that rose
With GE strain that causeth skin decay.
Thine scented soap with crush’d rose petal ghee
Thee vigorously rubb’d with blithe elan
Wherewith thou beauty fadeth horribly
I stand transfix’d to view thy purple tan.
Werenst not it rose but sonnet thee I gave
Methinks now in thy favor I would bask,
This night I’ll ne’er get lucky as I’d craved
O! Love forestall’d! why didst thou take a bath?
Yon doctors fee willst be for me distressing
Farewell! Thou art too dear for my possessing.

  1. Thus with lust
    to thy be true
    It must thrust forth
    forsooth in force
    Erelong petals bloom
    ne’er left to wither
    Splayed betwixt
    linguistics of come hither

A piece to shake the spears Mike!
    Well done 🙂

  3. Dozens of sonnets in your head, with a modern spin. Opposites Attract? Would Beatrice and Benedick be smitten, it not for their inflated egos? Ah, you adore me. I must have more of that. Purple skinned Lucky.

    • I thank you kindly, that language used to be the bane of my life at school where we were made to memorise dozens of Shakespeare’s sonnets and be able to recite them in class – and they had corporal punishment if you mistaketh! 😦

You’re welcome Mike.. I remember reading Shakespeare at school too. Although thankfully we didn’t have to memorise any sonnets 😉
