Fragile bridge ahead
Leave behind all troubled thoughts
Only dreams may cross
Leave your conflicts here
I will fight and conquer them
Bearing arms of love
I have battle scars
Soon my fighting will be done
Happy I will die
Friends of fellow man
I now leave this legacy
Save this bridge of dreams
Exquisitely beautiful words that weave a beautiful tapestry of inspiring imagery- as wonderful as the masterpiece that is the Japanese painting at the top.
I blush at this wonderful appraisal of my work DVH and thank you with great sincerity. Arigatō
Beautifully written Mike.
You are painting with words here, lovely.
Hugz ❤
What a lovely expression, ‘painting with words’ – thank you Patty.

Honour indeed Aquileana. I am respectful of this quadruple endowment and thank you most sincerely.
You Really deserve It, Mike…
My real pleasure to nominate your blog. Your poems stand out!.
Best wishes, always,
Aquileana 🙂
This is beautiful. Well done.
Thank you for these encouraging words – I’m happy you enjoyed it.
Sensitive and well done.
Kind words – many thanks Benny.
Bridge: a wonderful line to dreams from reality, well done!
Your metaphor is as accurate as your words are welcome. Much thanks.
Beautiful imagery, Mike. Bridge, carpet, what’s the difference? It’s the dreams that count. Tread softly.
You have interpreted this beautifully Jane – thanks so much for reading.
This is a beautiful, ethereal piece so tightly woven with poignant undertones. Love it… it made my heart ache.
I’m glad you like it Vera and your contribution is very welcome – thank you.
The last line is great – and may the dreaming continue.
You’ve identified the principle message of the piece Christy – thank you for these lovely words.
I love the ‘bridge of dreams’, and that you have journeys within journeys in such a small piece. Great writing, Mike.
Nice to have you make the crossing Angela and leave such lovely words in your wake. Many thanks.
Your haiku series is a perfect compliment to the contemplation of the pictured bridge ….beautiful and positive, dreams and contentment…just don’t leave us too soon!
Thank you H – you get the picture. Speaking of somebody leaving, I was reminded of a boot to the posterior that you once Twitterized me with and now wonder if I should return the favour…
And you’d be absolutely right to do so! I’ve been swamped with work, plus I’m in a legal property dispute, so I’ve not had time for much else. Having said that, it should generate themes for some poems. I’m about to start Easter break, so I’ll make a special effort (just for you), although it might be June/July before I’m back to my old pace. Thanks for the nudge 😊
Wonderful Mike…
I really liked the poem and particularly the last stanza… Remarkable!!!.
Best wishes Aquileana 🙂
Approbation from a respected peer is the ultimate compliment. Thank you so much Aquileana.
Beautiful image and words…
Thank you for this lovely feedback – much appreciated, thanks.
I love this – I do not know how to explain how or why – I just really like it a lot.
Those three little words are the ultimate accolade and need no further embellishment. Thank you so much.
Ah man – a pleasure reading. Somehow gave me peace?
Very cool – thank you Mike.
This might be better:
With you guarding the bridge, my dreams have never felt so safe, Mike. Yes, that’s it exactly.
We of the pen have this propensity to over-edit ourselves 😀 (which makes it all the more ridiculous that WordPress don’t provide for the editing comments).
My dreams have never felt so safe with you guarding the bridge, Mike
As the poem said, I can die happy now. Thank you kind friend.
I was trying to think of something witty to say …
but….not so witty at 5ish-am 🙂
I just really like this…it feels like a wonderful bridge to be on…I am glad such a nice person is the Keeper of the Dream Bridge…I know my dreams are in good hands…
Wonderful Mike..I really like your thoughts you have spun…
Take care…you Matter…

How heartening it is to receive a perfectly apt interpretation of ones work. Your perception and compliment encourages maryrose and I thank you.
A beautiful and heartfelt cry for dreams. Strong and brave piece, Mike.
Lovely synopsis Audrey, thank you so much.
I am looking everywhere for wisteria vines this spring. Your painting has them also. I hope you can smell the sweet blossoms from where you are on that bridge. Peace and warm wishes. Ellen
I am pleased to inform you Helen that you can get wisteria vines in the little shop on the left of Tokyo. You’re welcome 😉
They are in my own backyard. I need not travel anywhere. What I meant is they have become this spring’s symbol of fragrant pleasure. No one dies ready to go or “happy”. I think the opposite is true. People live to be happy and die satisfied they have loved and dreamed.
